Unless expressly stated otherwise, opinions given on this website are those of the individuals making them, and not those of the Libraries; the Libraries are not responsible for such opinions or any claims resulting from them. Persons submitting material to the website are solely responsible for the material and for any claims relating to its content. The Libraries reserve the right to remove any content which it has been notified is objectionable, whether or not the objection is substantiated, and otherwise to review, edit, or delete any content which it deems objectionable. This includes but is not limited to works such as images, artwork, text, data, files, audio/visual clips, illustrations, designs and documentation (the ‘Content’) and the collection, arrangement and assembly of the Content. These works are protected by copyright laws and treaties around the world. All such rights are reserved, except where otherwise explicitly noted on specific sites or below. f you print, copy, download or use any part of the site in breach of these terms of use, your right to use the site will cease immediately and you must at the option of the Bodleian Libraries return or destroy any copies of the material you have made. Some of the images contained on this site are available for re-use. Please see sections 4 and 5 below for details.

The Creative Commons Licence

The images of the Bodleian’s collections included on this site, and linked to via the image viewing interface, may be used for personal and non-commercial purposes under the terms of the UK Creative Commons ‘Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0’ Licence (CC-BY-NC-SA). This licence statement will also be indicated in the descriptive metadata for the content object. If you would like to use Bodleian images under the terms of this licence, you do not need to seek our permission. We ask that you give proper attribution when using the images, according to the best practices set forward by the Creative Commons, by providing the following notice:  ‘© 2013 Bodleian Libraries, used under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-ShareAlike licence: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/.’

Commercial Use

Under the terms of this licence, commercial use of the collections is prohibited. You may not use any of the material on the site for commercial purposes without first obtaining a separate licence. Commercial use includes both direct and indirect commercial purposes, such as selling, reselling, licensing, leasing, or loaning the Content in part or in whole. 5. Copyright information for the Vatican Library’s digitised collections

The images of the Vatican Library’s collections included on this site, and linked to via the image viewing interface, are the intellectual property of the Vatican Library. These images may not be reproduced in any form without the authorisation of the Vatican Library. Please see their site at www.vatlib.it for contact information.

 

6. Notice and takedown policy

The Bodleian Libraries have made every reasonable effort to locate, contact, and acknowledge copyright owners and wish to be informed by any copyright owners who are not properly identified and acknowledged on this site so that we may make any necessary corrections. If you are a rightsholder and are concerned that you have found your material on our site for which you have not given permission or which is not covered by an exception or exemption in national law, please contact us using the details on our Contact page, stating the following: your contact details; the full details of the material (sufficient to identify the material); the exact and full URL where you found the material; and a statement and any evidence you may provide that you are the rightsholder or an authorised representative thereof.

Upon receipt of a valid complaint, the material will be removed from the site pending an agreed solution.
