This is the first volume of a German incunable Bible, printed in Strasbourg in 1485 by Johann Gruninger. It contains a number of woodcuts painted in full colour, as well as decorated initials and rubrication. For more information, see the catalogue entry for this holding.

Illustrations: 109 woodcuts, the first numbered in inverse roman numbers. Binding: 16th/17th-century German blind-tooled pigskin over wooden boards; ornamental centre-piece and roll with crocketed cresting; two clasps lost.
