MS. Barocci 235

A catena is a book composed entirely of quotations from older books, arranged to form a continuous text. In a catena on the psalms such as this one, the psalm text is copied into the book, followed by quotations from existing commentaries. MS. Barocci 235 constitutes volume 1 of a three-volume psalm catena, probably composed in Palestine in the 6th century. It is the oldest and most complete manuscript of this text; all other extant manuscripts derive from this one.
